PRESS RELEASE
DECEMBER 1995
IP'S TELEVISION 95 :
MORE ANALYSES, MORE INFORMATION, MORE FIGURES,
AND A BRAND NEW CD-ROM VERSION
Launched in 1994, the TELEVISION guide is a practical tool to help understanding the
increasingly segmented and complicated television offer. Introduced by a European panorama,
the guide then covers markets country by country. It describes the audiovisual scene of each
market, its most recent developments, the various channels present and their performance
over the preceding year in terms of audience share and programmes.
- The novelties in the 95 edition
- Overall, TELEVISION 95 contains more information with one third more pages than the 94
edition. For instance the comparative introduction on the European scene includes more
parameters and integrates much more extensive analyses and commentaries. Regarding
national approaches, the number of countries reviewed increases from 31 to 33: as reference
frames to evaluate the relative importance of other markets, the United States and Japan have
been added to European markets.
- TELEVISION 95 also provides more precise data regarding Central and East European
countries - in terms of top programmes, advertising expenditure, audience methodologies...-
and includes for the first time general information on pan-European channels. More generally,
top programmes are provided for a greater number of television channels and the guide now
presents over 300 channels.
- A guide in the European Key Facts collection
- Launched in 1993, IP's European Key Facts collection is designed to bring together a number
of guides about media and advertising: Status report on advertising and the economy,
Television, Radio, Press... This collection is developed by IP's International Marketing
Committee, which brings together Marketing Directors of the group's companies in Europe.
- Faced with the bursting European media offer, the market increasingly requires pertinent and
reliable information. To respond to this need is one of IP group's objectives, whose expertise
is based on an international network (IP is now present in 28 countries) and a broad media
portfolio including over 50 television channels, representing over 15% of the European
audiovisual offer.
